Production Engineer / Fixture Designer

Your Role

The production engineering team plays a crucial role in the strategic work of developing and optimizing production for submarines and surface vessels. The team consists of about 20 specialists in production engineering and fixture design.

We are now looking for someone who wants to combine the role of production engineer and fixture designer.

In your role as a production engineer, you will work with layouts, buildings, work methods, and investments to improve and optimize our production.

As a fixture designer, you will develop fixtures and tools for production aimed at our projects within submarines and surface vessels. You will be involved from concept to finished production capability.

You will be an important cog in the organization when it comes to developing our strategic production capabilities.

Main Responsibilities

Production Engineer

• Define, analyze, develop, and improve production methods primarily within sheet metal forming, welding, and machining.
• Create layouts for buildings and production flow.
• Drive investment work and implement new production capabilities.
• Develop technical specifications and document process capabilities and requirements.

Fixture Designer

• Based on design as well as production needs, develop technical solutions in the form of fixtures, tools, lifts, aids, and special equipment.
• Participate in design reviews regarding manufacturability.
• Prepare manufacturing documentation and purchasing specifications.
• Provide technical support during the manufacturing phase and during the implementation and use of tools/fixtures.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone with a strong technical interest and preferably a few years of experience in the role of fixture designer/production engineer within the manufacturing industry. You have a strong internal drive and want to find ways forward to achieve results. The assignments require the ability to deliver according to established requirements, both technically and financially, on schedule. In your work, you are goal-oriented and solution-focused with a sense of order and structure, as well as an ability to lead yourself.

You will operate in an environment with many interfaces and cross-functional collaboration.

For this profile, it is desirable/meritorious to have

• Experience from production engineering assignments within the manufacturing industry.
• Experience in mechanics/fixture design within sheet metal forming, welding, and machining.
• Development of layouts for flows and buildings.
• Experience working with low-volume production/shipbuilding industry.
• Ability to plan and follow up according to project plans.
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor and knowledge of Windchill/Creo Parametric.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may entail requirements for certain citizenship.
